The new modular and configurable furnishing module in DomuS3D has been improved and integrated into the FURNISHING section of the Components Window. Configurable items are now found alongside “static” items (compared to the previous version of DomuS3D, there are no longer dual tabs within the Furnishings section).
Users have the possibility to insert customizable items into their project, configurable in all of their options as specified by the manufacturer, and to create custom compositions by assembling these items together as specified by the manufacturer.
Selecting certain furnishing items will automatically open a separate window where it is possible to customize and configure a composition by adding items and assembling the composition as desired.
META ARTICLES
As stated above, configurable furnishing items are available in DomuS3D within the FURNISHINGS section of the Components Window. These items are easily identified by a small icon in the bottom left corner of the items preview image:
Icon: 3 gears Icon: 1 gear
We can distinguish between two types of configurable items:
- Family of configurable items (modular items that make up a composition identified by the 3-gear icon):
When you drag and drop a family of configurable items into your project, a new configuration window will open automatically where you can proceed with assembling and configuring the items that will make up your composition:
Step1. drag and drop the family of configurable items into the floorplan
Step2. The configuration window will open automatically where you can configure your composition
On the right-hand side of the configuration window, you’ll find all of the available parts to configure and will be able to define the specific options available for each (variants, colors, materials, finishes, and more).
Once you’ve finished configuring your composition, simply switch back to the floorplan or 3D navigation window of the project and your configuration will now appear within your project.
The configured and customized composition that you’ve created will appear in the floorplan as a single furnishing item that can be moved, rotated, duplicated, deleted, but it’s structure and options cannot be modified.
To modify these aspects of the composition, you must right click on the item and select “Modify” from the context menu: this command will reopen the configuration window where you can modify the composition as desired, keeping in mind that the options available to choose from are those set forth by the manufacturer:
Alternatively, when the composition is viewed within the project, you will still be able to modify certain characteristics and variants from the properties window, such as the drawer type, the body color, and more.
Attention: to activate the properties window for a configurable item, you must left click one time on the desired item. (If you don’t know what the properties window is, click here to learn).
In the Floorplan or 3D Navigation Window
The “configurable furnishing” module in DomuS3D has the objective to allow users to create and configure only items that are actually produced by the manufacturer: it is a configurator that acts as a way to create and pre-validate a possible order.
- Individual Configurable Items (single articles identified by the 1-gear icon)
For individual configurable items, for example faucets, when an item is dragged and dropped into a project (either in the floorplan or 3D navigation window), the properties window on the right-hand side of the screen will show the available configurable options that users can define (variants, colors, materials, finishes, and more).
Therefore, for these individual configurable items, it is not necessary to work within the separate configuration window.
