There is an extremely useful feature for quickly cladding niches, available both in 3D Navigation and in 2D Wall.
If you don’t know how to create niches, click here.
From 3D Navigation
Suppose you have a niche in a wall, as shown in the following image:
At this point, open the Claddings section and select at the bottom the mode "Apply the layout to the entire surface" (see image below), then drag the desired tile onto a surface of the niche.
When you apply cladding to a niche, the programme asks if you want to clad all the surfaces of the element.
The behaviour changes depending on the answer:
- answering Yes, the cladding is applied to all the surfaces of the niche;
- answering No, the cladding remains only on the selected surface.
From 2D Surface
Suppose you have a niche in a wall, from the 2D WALL window (as shown in the following image)
by right-clicking inside the niche, select the command 2D Surface.
From the Navigation window the path will be similar: right-click inside the niche then > Claddable Face > 2D Surface
A window will open (see next image), in which the niche is exploded into all its claddable components.
At this point, open the Claddings section, always set the mode "Apply the layout to the entire surface", select the desired tile, drag and drop it onto one of the sections of the niche.
When you apply cladding to a niche, the programme asks if you want to clad all the surfaces of the element with the same behaviour as occurs in 3D Navigation.
Cladding a 3D Object
You can do the same with a claddable object such as a worktop, or a stair step. In the Navigation window (or in 2D Surface), right-click on the object and select the command Claddable Face > 2D Surface or just 2D Surface if you are in the 2D window.
You will have access to the 2D window where it is possible to clad the surface of the selected object. Drag and drop the tile as done on the previous page.
If you want to view the other surfaces of the object to clad them, right-click outside the object (in the background area) and select one of the other faces: Top, Sides, Base.
The 2D window will present an exploded view of the other faces so that you can clad them using the same technique as before.
