It can be useful to break up one of the walls in a project into multiple (and separate) segments. Sometimes, you need to create additional walls to modify the shape of the space, while other times, you simply need to divide the walls to make it easier to tile them in different ways. Please note, however, that if your goal is to quickly apply different tiles to the same wall, for example, to tile a shower corner, it is not recommended to use the "Split" command detailed below (for more information on how to correctly tile a shower corner, refer to the following article).
Starting in the 2019 version, it has become even easier to change a room layout by simply splitting a wall into two (or three, or four...) separate pieces and moving these resulting walls. This lets you quickly and easily change the shape of a room, for example a rectangular or square room can quickly become an "L" shaped room by dividing a wall and dragging one of the two newly formed pieces (for more information on how to move a wall, refer to the following article).
Move your mouse to the inner side of the wall you wish to split, then right-click and select the "Split" command. The wall will be split at the point where the mouse is located.
For a more precise operation, you can click on the "Split" button in the Layout Ribbon (see the image below):
Select which wall to divide and the exact point where you want to carry out the operation. You can use either the left mouse button to manually indicate the split point or, for more precision, you can enter the exact distance from the the existing corner to the split point. With the TAB key, you can switch between right/left distances: the highlighted field is the active one.
It is important to note that if you split a wall that has already been tiled, the application will not keep the existing tiling on both of the newly created walls. It is recommended, therefore, that you first decide the room layout before you begin tiling.
