To simplify the creation of advanced multi-room layouts in DomuS3D, you can import DWG or DXF CAD files and trace the geometries of their rooms with the dedicated “Trace Rooms” feature.
The command will automatically activate when you create a new project with the Import floorplan from DWG/DXF box selected. To read more about how to import a floorplan from an external DWG or DXF file, please see this article.
Once you’ve selected the floorplan file to import, a message will appear asking if you’d like to proceed with the tracing operation.
The correct procedure to follow is to start by tracing the external perimeter of the entire structure of the multi-room floorplan. Then, trace each single room found within the floorplan. The program will then construct the entire structure with the correct wall widths based on the area between the external perimeter and the individual rooms.
Once the function has been activated, we can proceed by tracing the entire external perimeter of the multi-room layout. Always trace in a clockwise direction.
Next, we can begin to build each interior room, tracing the interior perimeter of each room that makes up our floorplan.
As we are tracing, it is possible to recreate any recessed or extended areas present in the floorplan, as well.
Once we are done tracing out each interior room, we can hit ENTER on the keyboard or right click and select STOP.
DomuS3D will now create our complete project in 3D, which can be modified and completed just like any other project within the program.
When importing an external floorplan, you can decide not to launch the TRACE function right away, as it can be selected at any time by clicking on the “Trace Rooms” command available in the Layout tab of the Ribbon.
