If you want to expand the selection of 3D items available for use in your DomuS3D projects, you can add 3D elements from 3DWarehouse. Follow the procedure below:
- Open the 3D Warehouse web page using an external browser. Connect to https://3dwarehouse.sketchup.com/?hl=en
- Register a user account (you can use an existing Google Account, if desired).
- Search for the object you want to use by searching for the keyword of the object you want to find. You can search for object names (ex. Stool, rug, etc.), styles (modern, industrial), manufacturers, etc…We recommend ordering results by “likes” or “popularity” in order to visualize those most popular items first.
- Once you find the object you want to use, download it as Sketchup File.
We recommend using the year prior to the version of DomuS3D you are using, as the current year may not be compatible. For example, if you are using DomuS3D 2022, download the Sketchup 2021 Model.
Note: Don't worry if the element consists of parts you don't need; you can remove them after importing the 3D model into your project by right-clicking Delete > Blocks Selection command.
5. Open the LAYOUT section of the main Ribbon and select the From External Files command.
The program will ask you to select the desired file to import into the program.
In the next window, you can check that the scale of the object is correct before you import it into the layout, where it can then be positioned around your room just like any other object in your project.
You can also change its dimensions and/or materials, if desired.
This item will only be available and visible in the specific project you are using.
Once imported, the object can be used, resized, modified in terms of materials, or partially deleted using the Delete > Select Blocks command. Learn more about this command by watching this video.
