Within the Advanced Layout Editing environment, you can use CAD commands (line, polyline, arc, rectangle) to define or modify the existing Layout plan.
BASICS, layers and furnishings
BASICS
Layers: When you are inside Advanced Layout Plan Editing, a specific layer is activated (what are Layers? click here to learn more about this topic) and all others are temporarily frozen. Indeed, when entering layer management, you will see that some commands are inactive (for example, you cannot create new layers or unlock layers that are already frozen).
You can still turn on or off the layers you need to work with. With the R2 version of DomuS3D 2026, the changes you make in the Layer Management window are retained when switching between environments.
DomuS3D also automatically creates a new layer called “Automatic Dimensions (EAP)” which is on by default and where all the wall dimensions created during the definition of the room are associated (the presence of this layer allows you to hide these entities).
Furnishings: If you access this feature starting from a furnished Layout plan, all furnishings (including openings, doors and windows) are hidden and/or "frozen" and any coverings (wall and floor) are not visible.
STANDARD LAYOUT PLAN VIEW ADVANCED LAYOUT PLAN EDITING VIEW
When you modify a wall containing a fixture, the programme will try to update the display accordingly. When returning to the Standard Layout Plan, all these elements will be restored if possible.
DRAWING THE LAYOUT PLAN
Start by first tracing the external perimeter of the entire structure of the multi-room. Within this environment, the CAD controls are not immediately active. You need to select the command of interest within the ribbon bar.
If you use the polyline command, the programme uses a different colouring. Closed polylines (which then define the room) are coloured grey while open polylines/segments are coloured orange. To make the drawing procedure easier, with the command active, double-clicking will automatically close the polyline.
NB: The default colour of closed polylines can be changed from Options > Layout (from the Ribbon)
With the R2 release of DomuS3D 2026, internal walls or pillars not connected to the wall are also managed (for more information on how to insert these elements, see the article Drawing a pillar). In this case, the polyline defining the structural element is coloured brown.
Each time you define an enclosed space, the programme automatically inserts a number in the centre (this numbering excludes the external profile containing the others) and sets the room height to the default value defined in the programme options. It is not necessary to draw a continuous polyline to define the room: even open segments, once closed, can be converted into rooms.
After defining the Layout plan, confirm the operations by switching to the Standard Layout environment (for information, see the article (How to exit Advanced Layout Editing).
If you are working on a Layout plan that has a ceiling height different from the default because it was modified in the Standard Layout environment (for information, see the article Wall height of a room), once you have defined the new rooms in Advanced Editing, the programme assigns the same height to the new rooms when switching to the Layout plan.
MODIFYING THE LAYOUT
You can modify the Layout you have just drawn at any time simply by acting on the polyline that defines the room. If you position the cursor over a segment and right-click, a contextual menu appears allowing you to act on both the polyline and the individual segment.

SPECIAL CASES
If you have defined the various rooms but have not drawn the external profile that encloses them, when you switch to the Standard Layout environment, the programme displays a specific message asking if you want to try to create this profile automatically:
You are asked to specify the wall thickness, and by pressing “YES” an attempt will be made to create it automatically. If you press “NO”, you will have to draw it manually.
Attention: the unit of measurement depends on the one active at that time in the options.
If you answer yes, after creating the external profile the programme asks you to confirm the procedure to follow
By pressing “Yes” > the algorithm tries to create the walls starting from the drawn profiles (in case of error, the part of the floor plan that could not be built is highlighted, to give you a suggestion on how to fix it)
By pressing “No” > you return to the Standard Layout deleting all the work done in Advanced Editing and returning to the previous situation with the original walls (if present)
By pressing “Cancel” > you remain in Advanced Editing and can modify the external profile created to suit your needs.
