The basic commands that allow you to alter the geometry and position of objects/furnishings are contained within the CAD tab of the ribbon.
Once the command is chosen, it is necessary to select the objects to indicate to the programme which entities to modify.
Let's look in detail at the various commands:
- ROTATE: rotates the entities around a specified base point.
- SCALE: enlarges or reduces the objects relative to a base point by a numerical factor.
- MIRROR: creates a flipped copy of the objects relative to a symmetry axis.
- TRIM: shortens an entity using another entity as a boundary. This command was made more intuitive in the first version of DomuS3D 2026: when you activate the command, all entities are defined as boundaries, so you only need to select the entities to be deleted. With the second release of DomuS3D 2026, management of overlapping entities was added. If two or more overlapping entities are present at the selected point, the programme shows a popup allowing you to choose which entity to trim.
- EXTEND: lengthens an entity until it meets another boundary entity. This command was previously available only for lines. With DomuS3D 2026 R2, its functionality has been extended to segments of open polylines. While the command is active, projections are also shown, useful for understanding if the extension is correct. The command is also present in the contextual menu of a segment of an open polyline.
- FILLET: modifies two lines with an arc of defined radius or creates a sharp corner. This command was previously available only for lines. With DomuS3D 2026 R2, its functionality has been extended also to open polylines by adding an arc entity that connects them; for closed polylines it behaves as for lines. If two non-filletable segments are selected, the programme indicates that it is not possible to fillet them and remains within the command, allowing you to try again with different segments.
- CHAMFER: creates a chamfer between two non-parallel lines.
- MOVE: allows you to move objects from a base point to a destination position.
- DUPLICATE: allows you to duplicate one or more objects by specifying a base point and a destination point.
- DELETE: allows you to remove CAD graphic elements. After manually selecting the entities to remove with the cursor, press Enter. Alternatively, you can select the objects and press the Delete key on the keyboard.
- EXPLODE: this command separates or breaks down complex entities such as polylines into primitive geometric elements (single lines or arcs) to modify them individually.
- INVERT SELECTION: allows you to select all currently unselected 2D entities and furnishings and deselect those currently selected (all 2D entities and furnishings previously outside the selection will be inside it after the command and vice versa). This command can be useful when in a complex floor plan imported via DXF or DWG file it is easier to identify some entities to exclude from the next action, while it would be more challenging to identify the entities you intend to act on.
Modification of CAD Entities from Their Contextual Menu
Many of the commands seen previously are also available by right-clicking on the CAD entity you want to modify, but in the contextual menu of some entities we can find additional commands such as Offset as well as others more specific.
POLYLINE: In the contextual menu of the polyline, we can find a group of commands under the segment heading where it is possible to:
- Add a vertex to the selected segment to create a second segment that can be moved.
- Delete/move only a section of the polyline. This allows you to modify the shape or revise the dimensions of the polyline itself. Movement is limited within the polyline itself, exactly as happens in Standard Plan with the walls of a room. Deleting a segment, on the other hand, allows you to completely change the shape of the room by adding further segments to close the remaining open profile.
CORNER: In the contextual menu of the corner it is possible to:
- Delete the selected corner
- Stretch the corner, moving it to the desired point
- Align it horizontally or vertically to another corner (present only on closed polylines)
- Change the origin of the polyline indicated with a red circle (present only on closed polylines)
ARC: In the contextual menu of the arc or arc-shaped segments it is possible to change the radius to modify its shape.
