INTRODUCTION AND GENERAL OVERVIEW
To make it easier and more intuitive to modify or create floor plans, a new Advanced Layout Editing environment has been developed. This replaces the previous Trace Rooms command available in the ribbon bar. For information on how to access it, see this article: How to Enter Advanced Layout Editing.
Within this environment, you can draw the outlines of a room using lines or polylines, modify its shape, or, if needed, delete existing rooms. Every time you enter this environment and apply any change, the program recreates the plan from scratch and fully rebuilds the walls, while preserving the coverings and fixtures already inserted.
Room heights and sloped ceilings: currently, Advanced Layout Editing does not manage room heights or sloped ceilings. For this reason, a warning message is displayed to inform you that the ceiling slope information will be lost, and you will need to reapply it when returning to the standard Plan view.
This limitation will be addressed in future updates.
VIEW TYPES AND HOW TO ACCESS THE COMMAND
From the plan window, you have three view types available:
- The traditional Plan view, already familiar from previous versions, which opens automatically when a project is started.
- The Ceiling view, which you should use whenever you want to customize the different heights of a sloped ceiling. This view does not display furnishings, to avoid confusion while working at ceiling/roof level. Click here to learn more.
-
The Advanced Layout Editing view, which allows you to modify the floor plan more easily by editing the outlines of existing rooms or drawing new lines to define new spaces.
At the top left of the floor plan window, the currently active view type is always displayed (Plan / Ceiling / Advanced Layout Editing). At the top right, there is a toolbar with two buttons:
the left button represents the standard Plan, while the right button represents Advanced Layout Editing.
The icon highlighted in blue indicates the currently active view.
